The Angkor Wat stage in the arcade-hit Pang dates back to the classic 1990 Amiga game of same name. But when Mitchell released the fourth installment of the series with Mighty! Pang in the arcades at the turn of the millennium we got multiple stages at Angkor Wat with much improved graphics. We first see the temples of Angkor in the stage map of the game when our plane reaches Cambodia for level 10. There’s a daytime level with the silhouette of the iconic temple and its reflection in the moat, a burning sunrise backdrop and even a dusk stage in front of Angkor.
If you want to give the game a try yourself, the Internet Arcade as part of the Internet Archive has Mighty! Pang available to play for free in your browser here.
Angkor Wat can be found in many other video games, such as SNK’s run & gun classic Metal Slug or the Gamecube gem Eternal Darkness.
